A free zombie survival game: zombies can’t enter light, so power your home with solar, batteries, inverters and generators and survive the night.

Survival game

LIGHTS OUT

Zombies can’t enter the light. Power your home with solar, batteries and generators, and survive as many nights as you can.

Keyboard: WASD to move, E to use, F for torch · Phone: drag to move, tap ACTION

How to play

The power has gone, and when the sun sets the zombies come out of the dark forest. They can't enter light. You can't fight them, only keep them away with streetlights, floodlights, your torch and your car's headlights.

  • By day, solar panels charge your home battery. Drive or run to the city to buy lights, panels, batteries, bigger inverters, a generator and petrol.
  • By night, keep every side of the house lit and stay in the light yourself. If a dark wall is left open, zombies start breaking in.
  • Watch the watts. Too many lights at once trip the inverter and everything goes dark for a moment. Too little battery and the lights run out before sunrise. Every light has a dusk sensor, so it only uses power after dark.
  • Make money by selling spare power at the meter while the grid is up, opening crates hidden in the woods, and surviving each night.
  • The generator refills the battery overnight, but it burns petrol, and its noise brings zombies to the house.

The longer you survive, the higher your score. Play fullscreen on a computer with the keyboard, or on a phone with touch controls.

The real power behind the game

The numbers work the way they do at home. A 200 W halogen gives the same light as a 50 W LED floodlight but drains the battery four times faster. An inverter can only carry so many watts at once. A lead-acid battery is cheap, and lithium stores far more. For your own house, the inverter and battery size calculator and the backup time calculator use the same figures.
